Biography

Jimmy Bonds Bio
Jimmy Bonds was born into a musical family on the south side of Washington D.C., and has been performing and creating music for most of his life. His grandfather, Al Russell, is an accomplished jazz piano player who passed his love of music to Jimmy Bonds. His mother, a former D.C. public school teacher who is now a pastor, taught him the importance of exploring his talents to help others. The second of four children, Jimmy Bonds started performing at age 6. When he was 8, he had a small role in his first television sitcom, and joined the Kelsey E. Collie Playmaker Company at age 12. The Playmaker Company was also where actress Kellie Williams, who played Laura on the hit television show "Family Matters," got her start. Life for Jimmy Bonds as a child was not easy. Like a lot of young black males, his father was absent from his life. To help fill this hole, Jimmy Bonds turned to music and the performing arts. In 1995 his mother fell ill and was forced to leave her teaching job. The family was soon homeless. For the next several years, Jimmy Bonds and his family lived in hotels or stayed with relatives and friends. During this time he attended the Washington International School. There he was exposed to many different cultures and ideas that molded who Jimmy Bonds is today. At age 16, faced with adversity and desperate to finish high school, but with no stable place to live, he was taken in by his best friend's family. From then on Jimmy Bonds flourished. He was named captain of the school's basketball team, "athlete of the year," and starred in important roles in school plays. He persevered to graduate on time and was accepted by six major universities. However, Jimmy Bonds was unable to pay tuition to attend the schools, so he took a job at a bank. He was 18. By the time he was 23, he was a bank manager -- with no college degree. It was at this point he started to take his musical talent more seriously. While working, he started rapping with groups around the city. He performed at open mics, showcases, and even on some local D.C. cable network shows. Often feeling like his full potential was not being met, he decided to go solo. It proved to be a wise choice. He always loved to travel and by age 24 he had been to six different countries, including Norway, Spain and England. During his travels he met Larry Lavish, a producer from Norway who had major success in the Asian and European hip-hop music scenes. Working with Larry Lavish, Jimmy Bonds was able to expand his creative side and push his songwriting skills to new heights. Today Jimmy Bonds records out of Trig Vision Studios in Landover, Md. He has teamed up with the exceptional producer Intrigue, aka Mr.Chainsaw. They have created the Jimmy Bonds sound you hear today. Currently Jimmy Bonds is wrapping up his first solo mix tape titled "The Introduction of Jimmy Bonds The Mix tape" with the album "The Introduction of Jimmy Bonds" soon to follow. Jimmy Bonds strives to separate himself from most of mainstream hip hop. He works to create his own lane and his own market. You won't find a rapper with such raw talent and delivery in today's music. He is gifted. Look for Jimmy Bonds coming to a city or small town near you.
